Ontario Athletes Continue to Have Success at World Cup #3 in Duisburg, Germany

Ontario Team and Canadian Sport Centre Ontario OHPSI supported athletes Aaron Rublee, Roland Varga and Mallorie Nicholson continue to have success at World Cup #3 in Duisburg, Germany.  Aaron from the Burloak Canoe Club finished 3rd in the C-1 200m B-Final event, but earned himself as part of the Men’s 4x200m C-1 relay team that finished 3rd.  Roland Varga from the Richmond Hill Canoe Club finished 2nd in the C-1 500m B-Final.   Mallorie Nicholson from Burloak and partner Laurence Vincent-Lapointe from Quebec continued their winning streak by finishing first in the C-2 500m.  National Team and OHPSI supported athlete KC Fraser from the Balmy Beach Canoe Club finished 3rd in the K-2 200m event with partner Genvieve Orton (NS) and 4th in the K-4 500m A-final with teammates Kristin Gauthier (Rideau Canoe Club), Mylanie Barre (QC), & Genevieve Orton (NS).  Kristin Gauthier from (Rideau) and Mylanie Barre from Quebec also finished 9th in the K-2 200m. 

 

Ontario National Team athletes continued their strong performances from last weekend.  Mark Oldershaw (Burloak) finished 2nd in the C-1 1000m A-Final while Paul Bryant from Richmond Hill finished 2nd in the B-Final.   Adam Van Koeverden also from Burloak got a little redemption from last week by finishing 2nd in the K-1 1000m followed closely by team mate Angus Mortimer from Ottawa who finished 6th.  Adam and Angus also had very strong performance in the K-1 500m event by finishing 2nd and 4th respectively.  Rhys Hill from the Rideau Canoe Club finished 7th in the K-1 200m event and earned himself a silver medal as part of the Men’s 4 x 200m K-1 relay team.  Corey Hamilton (Rideau) and Brady Reardon (Burloak) raced as part of the Men’s  K-4 1000m crew, which finished 7th in the B-final (Steven Jorens formerly of Richmond Hill Ontario was also a member of that crew).
