Ontario Team and Canadian Sport Centre Ontario OHPSI supported athletes make Finals at World Cup #2

Ontario Team and Canadian Sport Centre Ontario OHPSI supported athletes Aaron Rublee, Roland Varga and Mallorie Nicholson made the A-finals at ICF World Cup #2 in Racice, Czech Republic over the weekend.  Aaron from the Burloak Canoe Club finished 9th in the C-1 200m event and Roland Varga with partner Paul Bryant (both from the Richmond Hill Canoe Club) finished 9th in the C-2 1000m and 8th in the C-2 500m events.  Mallorie Nicholson from Burloak won the C-2 500m event with partner Laurence Vincent-Lapointe from Quebec.  In addition, National Team and OHPSI supported athlete KC Fraser from the Balmy Beach Canoe Club finished 7th in the K-4 500m A-final with teammates Kristin Gauthier (Rideau Canoe Club), Mylanie Barre (QC), & Genevieve Orton (NS).  KC and Genevieve also finished 5th in the K-2 200m A-final. 


Ontario National Team athletes also had a very strong showing this weekend.  Mark Oldershaw (Burloak) finished 1st in the C-1 1000m and 1st C-1 5000m events.   Adam Van Koverden also from Burloak just missed a medal in the K-1 1000m finishing 4th, but did medal in the K-1 5000m finishing 2nd.  Angus Mortimer of Ottawa finished  4th in the K-1 1000m B-Final, while Rhys Hill from the Rideau Canoe Club finished  6th in the B-Final of the K-1 200m event.  Corey Hamilton (Rideau) and Brady Reardon (Burloak) raced as part of the Men’s K-4 1000m crew, which were eliminated in the semi-final (the other members of that crew are Steve Jorens, formerly of the Richmond Hill Canoe Club, and Phil Duchesneau from Quebec).
