Coaches/Athletes

Attached is the updated Ontario Team Ranking List (OTRL) and Ontario Development Team Ranking List (ODTRL) based on CKC's National Team, NextGen and Academy program nominations.

Coaches please review the ranking list to ensure your athletes performances are correct and let me know of any needed changes by Tuesday, November 17.

Ontario Team Program Nominations:

OCSRA's Ontario Team Program offers three (3) types of support:  Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative  (OHPSI) program, Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP), and Ontario Development Team.  Selection criteria for each team can be found in OCSRA's 2015 Ontario Team Selection Criteria at www.ocsra.ca.

Ontario's High Performance Committee will be reviewing team nominations this week, with the goal of publishing the nomination list by this weekends OCSRA AGM in Peterborough.

General Program info:

OHPSI -  The program provides financial and program assistance to Ontario athletes for international competition and support in the Daily Training Environment (DTE).  Athletes must have been eligible to compete at the 2015 U23 World Championships and had a minimum performance within 8% of CKC's Gold Medal Time (GMT).

Funding and program support is allocated to eligible athletes in the order of priority outlined in the selection criteria.  Nominations is based on international results first, then nomination to CKC NextGen program, and finally by domestic results at either the Ontario Team Trials or the National Team Trials #2, using the OTRL.

OAAP - The program will provide financial assistance to Ontario 'junior-aged' (U23 World Championships eligible) athletes.  OCSRA may provide financial assistance to athletes who were not U23 World Championships eligible if they are 'next generation national team' and have shown a significant upwards progression towards GMT performances.

The funding is provided by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport (MTCS).  MTCS has specific requirements, including allocated cards will be split evenly by gender, regardless of discipline, provided all athletes meet the minimum performance standard of 8% of CKC's GMT.

Similar to the OHPSI program, funding support is allocated to eligible athletes in the order of priority outlined in the selection criteria.  Nominations is based on international results first, a Top 3/Top 1/2 of the competing field at the National Championships in Olympic singles events & Women's C1 200m in the following age categories U19, Junior, Senior, Open AND are within 4% differential of the winner in that event.  Finally, nominations are based on results at either the Ontario Team Trials or the National Team Trials #2, using the OTRL.

Ontario Development Team - The program will provide development athletes training support to assist them in future nominations to the OAAP and OHPSI teams.  The program has no financial contribution, rather, athletes will receive support to participate in sport-specific testing and monitoring, as well as being invited to participate in OCSRA's/CKC's NextGen/Academy training camps throughout the winter season.

Again, the Ontario Development Team support is allocated to eligible athletes in the order of priority outlined in the selection criteria.  Nominations is based on nomination to CKC's Academy program (for 2016 Junior World Championships eligible athletes), then to athletes who finish Top 3/Top 1/2 at the National Championships in any singles events, and finally on results at either the Ontario Team Trials or National Team Trials #2, using the ODTRL.  The minimum performance is 8% of the appropriate age Performance Indicator Time (PIT).

If you have any questions regarding how athletes are nominated to each team please contact me and/or review the selection criteria at www.ocsra.ca.  Congratulations on all your athletes performances throughout the summer.

Cheers,
