Ryan Blair named new Technical Director of OCSRA

posted Feb 3, 2014, 7:28 AM by Joel Hazzan

On behalf of the Ontario Canoe Sprint Racing Affiliate and CanoeKayak Ontario, I am pleased to announce that Ryan Blair has accepted the newly created position of Provincial Technical Director for Ontario.

Ryan is well known to both the Eastern and Western Ontario Divisions, having served as head coach for clubs in both divisions in the past. He brings a wealth of knowledge of our sport to the position. Ryan will take on the new role on February 1st and will report to Orest Stanko, Executive Director of CanoeKayak Ontario.

Ryan is currently located in Carleton Place but will be relocating to the GTA in the coming months.

The Provincial Technical Director will assist with development of clubs, coaches and all athletes. His mandate includes the ongoing development and implementation of Ontario's High Performance Management Plan, the Quest for Gold program and our continued participation in the Ontario High Performance Sport Initiative. He will also ensure that our Ontario programs are aligned with those of our NSO, CanoeKayak Canada.

Joel Hazzan will work with Ryan during the month of February to ensure a smooth transition of duties between the previous provincial coach position and the new technical director position.

The OCSRA would like to take this opportunity to thank Joel for his enthusiasm and invaluable contribution to our sport over the past years.

We wish him all the best in his new role as head coach at the Ottawa River Canoe Club.

 Joanne Bryant

Chair, OCSRA
